Are you tired of suffering from trauma?

You don’t have to continue to carry the weight and pain of past trauma by living in fear, having sleep disturbances, intrusive memories, or difficulty with relationships. There is real, effective help for individuals suffering. We have sat with countless individuals with both single-incident trauma and repeated trauma who have suffered in silence for way too long.

Many people don’t even realize they had trauma from their family of origin or recognize the impact their trauma has had on their lives. They simply thought they were broken and that nobody could help them. Sadly, many have been in therapy for years with little to no improvement because they have never addressed to real problem, their past trauma.

Trauma Counseling Can and Does Help!

Imagine a life where you can think about your past without strong emotions or where you can begin to fully trust others and yourself again. Imagine a life where you begin to feel hopeful and dream again about possibilities. All of this and more is possible with the right kind of help.

Our Approach to Trauma Counseling

We know how hard it is to seek help, especially after experiencing a traumatic event. Our goal is to create a safe space for you to begin your healing journey. We believe that trauma not only affects a person’s well-being but is also stored in the body causing automatic reactions and physical symptoms that create major life challenges.

Over time, these experiences and symptoms can change how a person views themselves, others, and the world. This is why we believe in a custom trauma counseling plan for each and every individual and that no one approach is best.

All of our clients will have an extensive intake appointment to learn more about your history, personality, prior treatment, and medications or medical complications, and your goals for treatment. We will work collaboratively with you to develop a specific plan of care to address your trauma counseling needs.

For some individuals, they will benefit from incorporating additional treatments such as LENS neurofeedback, lifestyle changes, or other holistic approaches as part of their care. We will work to identify what you need to best support your work. Some people do well with regular weekly appointments to go slowly, while others prefer more rapid treatment available in intensive formats. Your trauma counselor will work with you to identify the most effective and safe approach to your counseling plan.

What is stopping you from starting Trauma Therapy?

“I Tried Trauma Counseling Before and it Didn’t work”

Sadly, we hear this more than we like to admit. While there are many great trauma therapists and highly trained professionals available to help with PTSD and trauma, many therapists have not received the right training or combination of training to help every case. Some rush to start protocols such as EMDR without proper resourcing or never get beyond the resourcing phase because life events come up in the middle of therapy.

We also know that many people need extended sessions (longer than 50 minutes) or intensive formats in order to feel safe to work on their trauma or to feel grounded and calm after processing intense emotions. Most traditional therapy offices book sessions on the hour and cannot provide flexible or customized plans that allow for longer session times. This can often get in the way of true healing and keep people stuck much longer than needed.

I can’t afford Trauma Counseling

We know that all therapy is an investment and that it can be hard to take time away from work and spend money on taking care of yourself. However, research suggests that untreated trauma can cost tens of thousands of dollars in costs due to health problems, lost wages, and other mental health conditions. In fact, one of the largest studies ever conducted by health insurance companies demonstrated the enormous impacts of childhood trauma on medical costs.

At Katy Counseling, we aim to make trauma counseling affordable by offering intensive formats for therapy. These intensives allow you to take a longer period of time in a single or multiple-day format to address and treat your trauma symptoms as rapidly as possible. Intensives may not be the best format for all individuals. If you are an individual who needs slower treatment, we offer additional supportive services such as LENS neurofeedback to provide relaxation and support in providing faster results.

Additionally, we take flexible spending accounts and HSAs, all major credit cards, and assist clients with filing out-of-network insurance claims for maximum reimbursement.
