Savannah Vazquez
When your child or teen is struggling, it can feel heartbreaking to watch. Maybe they’re anxious all the time, shutting down, acting out, or carrying around emotions they don’t know how to express. Maybe you’ve tried everything you can think of, but nothing seems to help. If you’re looking for a child therapist or teen counselor in Katy who takes the time to truly understand your child, you’re in the right place.
I believe every child deserves to feel seen, heard, and understood. One of the phrases that guides my work is, “If no one else hears you, I do. If no one else sees you, I do.” My goal is to create a safe place where children, teens, and young adults know they matter—not because of what they accomplish, but simply because of who they are.
I have a special passion for working with children, adolescents, and young adults who feel misunderstood or who haven’t connected with therapy before. I especially enjoy working with the middle school and high school students that others describe as “hard to reach.” There is nothing more rewarding than watching a teen who didn’t want to come to counseling begin to feel safe enough to open up.
As a child therapist, I use developmentally appropriate approaches, including play therapy techniques, Adlerian interventions, Sandtray Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), to help children and teens process difficult experiences in ways that make sense to them. I also provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy and am a trained LENS Neurofeedback Provider, allowing me to tailor treatment to each client’s unique strengths and needs.
I enjoy helping children, teens, and young adults with:
Anxiety and excessive worry
Trauma and PTSD
Autism and neurodivergence
Developmental disabilities
Perfectionism and self-esteem
Family conflict
Divorce and blended family adjustment
Foster care and adoption
Military family transitions
Grief and families affected by suicide
I also believe parents are an important part of the healing process. I enjoy partnering with caregivers to better understand their child’s needs, strengthen family relationships, and provide practical strategies that can be used at home.
Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, navigating trauma, adjusting to family changes, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life, we’ll work together to better understand what’s going on beneath the surface. Therapy isn’t about “fixing” your child—it’s about helping them discover their strengths, understand themselves, and develop the confidence and tools they need to thrive.
My hope is that every child, teen, and young adult who walks into my office leaves knowing they are more than their struggles or their past. Together, we’ll help them write the next chapter of their story with hope, resilience, and confidence.
