POSTPONED! After The Storm: Horses, Community & Healing with EMDR

Were you in the Hill Country during the July 4th floods? Helped in search and rescue or recovery efforts? Did you or your child loose a loved one? If you were impacted by the storm in ANY way and have been struggling with the things you saw, heard, or even imagined, there is relief!

We often think that time will heal all wounds (and sometimes that’s true), however, when something so difficult happens it can interrupt our brain’s normal healing response. Here are some common things we hear from people that need a little extra support:

  • Difficulty sleeping or nightmares
  • Intense swings in emotions
  • Attempting not to think about the upsetting things only to find themselves ruminating over it. (children may play these things out)
  • Increased irritability and/or shortness with loved ones
  • Difficulty focusing, concentrating, or remembering things
  • Loss of interest in activities that normally bring pleasure
  • For children we may see regression in sleep, behavior, and milestones
  • An inability to stop doom scrolling or watching news related to the event or, conversely going to extreme lengths to avoid anything related to it.
  • An increase in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headaches or other physical symptoms.
  • Panic attacks, startling easily, or overall anxiety/fear. (Children may start worrying about monsters, “bad guys” or other natural disasters)

If you or anyone you know is suffering, this is EVENT can help reduce symptoms, improve sense of safety, and reset the brain to heal. This is a FREE event and not intended in any way to sell or promote services. All participants are mental health professionals and trainees offering services out of their own desire to help heal our community.
