LENS Neurofeedback Therapy Targets a variety of areas:

LENS neurofeedback helps with a variety of central nervous system issues and symptoms inclduing:

Sensory Issues: Many individuals experience sensitivity to lights, sounds, textures, scents and vision. LENS neurofeedback aims to balance the brain allowing your brain and body to reduce reactivity.

Emotions: LENS neurofeedback helps to balance mood swings, decrease sudden fearfulness and anxiety, angry episodes and intense emotions. When the nervous system is balanced, moods can become more stable.

Cognition: Issues such as foggy thinking, difficulty concentrating, focus, memory, organizing and sequencing often stem from issues in the central nervous system. Many clients find enhanced clarity and focus after LENS neurofeedback.

Energy: Balancing the brain frequently relieves symptoms of insomnia, low stamina, and overall low energy. Sleep improvement is often one of the first improvements clients report when receiving LENS neurofeedback.

Pain and Movement: Pain originates in the nervous system. As a result, we often see immediate relief of pain or a significant reduction in pain levels that do not originate from a deeper issue. For those recovering from surgery or dealing with chronic pain, LENS can often provide relief between other treatments. Some patients going through chemotherapy report it is effective in reducing treatment symptoms and aiding in faster recover between treatments.

LENS neurofeedback is to the brain what physical therapy is to the body. When a person is injured, the body forms scar tissue around the injury to support healing. While helpful, this also decreases mobility. As such, doctors prescribe physical therapy to help patients gradually work the muscles and tissues to regain strength and flexibility.

Our brains work in exactly the same way. Injuries occur to all of us at some point, either through minor bumps to the head, through exposures to mold, toxins, or medications, stroke, or even due to emotional and psychological trauma. LENS neurofeedback matches an individual’s brain waves and gently prompts the brain to try new things to help remove stuck patterns and regain full flexibility and functionality.

The LENS, or Low Energy Neurofeedback System, is a unique and effective form of neurotherapy that facilitates changes in people of all ages with a wide variety of presenting issues. As a result, it can address numerous symptoms and deficits. It is remarkably effective, and over 85% of people who have used the LENS have benefited significantly from it. Results can be seen quickly, often beginning within the first session, and are lasting.

LENS Neurofeedback is extremely safe. Among over 75,000 clients treated with LENS, there has been no reported case of lasting negative effects.

“LENS neurofeedback is an FDA-certified Class II device. It is 510K exempt. The Class II 510K exempt medical device classification is a less restrictive certification than a 510-K, meaning that LENS is considered by the FDA as safer than the 510-K devices, which include most other biofeedback and neurofeedback devices.”

Additionally, LENS Neurofeedback is one of the few neurofeedback systems approved by the VA.

LENS Neurofeedback can help you if you face challenges in many areas, including but not limited to:

Anxiety:
LENS neurofeedback is exceptionally effective at reducing of anxiety. Most clients begin to experience improvement within 4-6 sessions. LENS also improves resilience, the ability to handle stress, and helps create a sense of calm in difficult situations. This can also enhance anxiety counseling and other anxiety treatments.

Depression:
LENS neurofeedback helps lift depression—sometimes even when it has been resistant to other treatments. Energy and motivation can also increase, and a client may once again experience a positive sense of health and well-being. This is powerful when paired with depression counseling.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI):
In mild and moderate TBI, clarity, concentration/focus, memory, multi-tasking and energy can significantly and quickly improve after LENS Neurofeedback. This gentle form of neurofeedback was originally created to help individuals with TBI and can help no matter how old the injury is!

ADD/ADHD:
LENS neurofeedback decreases impulsivity, distractibility, and hyperactivity. The world becomes easier to navigate. Life becomes less of a struggle for the patient and parent. Typical neurofeedback often takes 40 sessions to begin to improve ADHD symptoms, whereas LENS typically provides results in half the time. We find this can be especially helpful for children with ADHD who have difficulty sitting still or who need additional support in their therapy for ADHD.

Substance Abuse:
Because LENS neurofeedback is so effective at treating anxiety, depression and poor impulse control, it can be tremendously helpful for people withdrawing from, and working at staying away from, addictive substances. While LENS neurofeedback is not a cure for addiction or substance abuse, it does seem to help those who self-medicate with substances achieve a more relaxed state and find cravings lower or disappear, making this a powerful addition to any substance abuse treatment protocol.

Autism, Asperger’s, OCD, Hair Pulling, Eating Disorders:
Again, because LENS neurofeedback is so effective at treating anxiety, depression and poor impulse control, there is often dramatic improvement in a variety of disorders where these symptoms are present. LENS is not a cure, rather it helps calm the nervous system, which is often overactive in these diagnoses. This is helpful for adults, children, and teens with OCD or other compulsive or repetitive behaviors.

Unlike LENS sessions, traditional neurofeedback sessions (1) require conscious effort and attention to stimuli by the client, (2) sessions last 45-60 minutes each, and (3) results are typically attained over 40 or more sessions.  On the other hand, LENS does not require any focused attention, and the person does not need to do anything specific during the session.

The sessions themselves last between a few seconds and a few minutes. Initial results are typically seen within 1-4 sessions, with an average of 11 sessions per client.  This makes LENS neurofeedback an excellent option for all individuals, including those who are unable to attend for extended periods and/or understand instructions.

We find LENS Neurofeedback can be a powerful tool to help speed up detox from mold exposure, recover from brain injuries, and accelerate therapy. While traditional medical models often encourage individuals to try one treatment at a time, we know that collaborating with other providers for nutrition, detox, and therapy can provide faster, better results.
